Wealdstone returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over Gateshead at Grosvenor Vale. Olufela Olomola and Luke Norris established a two-goal first-half advantage before Jack Wells-Morrison struck immediately after the restart and substitute Jack Cook completed the scoring late on.
The Stones entered the contest looking to end a run of three successive National League defeats, while Gateshead arrived in London without a victory in seven league matches and hoping to respond to their heavy 6-1 home defeat against Southend United the previous weekend.
Wealdstone found the breakthrough in the 22nd minute. Norris provided the assist for Olomola, who found the net to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. It was Olomola’s second goal in successive matches after he had also opened the scoring in the dramatic 2-1 defeat at Tamworth a week earlier.
The hosts strengthened their position 11 minutes later when they were awarded a penalty. Norris, having created the opening goal, stepped up and converted from the spot in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 and leave Gateshead facing another difficult afternoon.
Wealdstone took their two-goal advantage into the interval and required only two minutes of the second half to strike again. Dan Chesters supplied Wells-Morrison, who found the net in the 47th minute to extend the lead to 3-0 and put the hosts firmly in control of the contest.
Gateshead attempted to find a route back into the match, but Wealdstone protected their advantage and prevented the visitors from generating the response they needed. With a three-goal cushion established, the Stones were able to manage the second half while continuing to threaten at the other end.
Jack Cook was introduced from the bench in the 62nd minute and added the final goal in the 84th. The substitute found the net to make it 4-0 and complete Wealdstone’s biggest National League victory of the season.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive victory and a valuable clean sheet for the Stones. Norris played a particularly influential role, creating Olomola’s opener before converting the penalty that doubled the advantage, while four different players contributed to the scoring across the afternoon.
The result moved Wealdstone onto 11 points from ten National League matches and brought their three-match losing run to an emphatic end. Gateshead remained bottom of the table on four points from ten games, with the defeat extending their winless league sequence to eight matches. Having conceded six against Southend and four at Grosvenor Vale, the Heed have now shipped 10 goals across their last two fixtures.
