Harrogate Town returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-1 victory over Eastleigh at the Marcy Fitness Stadium. Brad Dolaghan scored twice in the first half before Bailey Hobson and substitute George Thomson added further goals after the break as the Sulphurites ended a run of two successive National League defeats.
Harrogate made the perfect start, opening the scoring after just six minutes. Dolaghan found the net to give Simon Weaver’s side an early advantage and continue Harrogate’s record of scoring in every National League fixture this season.
Eastleigh responded positively and found an equaliser in the 25th minute. Temitope Eweka provided the assist for Jordan Cousins, who converted to bring the visitors level at 1-1 and restore parity midway through the opening half.
The scores remained level for only 14 minutes. Dolaghan struck again in the 39th minute to score his second of the afternoon and restore Harrogate’s advantage. The forward’s brace ensured the hosts went into the interval with a 2-1 lead as they looked to respond to recent defeats against AFC Fylde and Boreham Wood.
Eastleigh attempted to find another route back into the contest after the restart and turned to their bench as the second half developed. Will Randall-Hurren and Jonny Williams were introduced before Jake Caprice followed as the Spitfires searched for another equaliser.
Harrogate remained dangerous, however, and established a two-goal cushion in the 79th minute. Morgan Williams supplied Hobson, who found the net to make it 3-1 and leave Eastleigh facing a considerable task during the closing stages.
George Thomson was introduced from the bench a minute later and made his impact before the final whistle. In the 89th minute, Thomson added Harrogate’s fourth goal to complete an emphatic victory and put the result beyond any doubt.
Eastleigh were unable to produce a late response and the final whistle confirmed a convincing 4-1 victory for the hosts. Dolaghan’s first-half brace provided the foundation before Harrogate added two further goals during the closing stages to secure their sixth league victory of the campaign.
The result moved Harrogate Town onto 19 points from ten National League matches after six wins, one draw and three defeats, providing an important response to their successive losses against Fylde and Boreham Wood. Eastleigh remained on 14 points from ten games after suffering their fourth league defeat of the season.
