Barrow struck three times in the final 22 minutes to beat Scunthorpe United 3-0 at Holker Street and record a third successive National League victory.
The visitors threatened first, with Ben Winterbottom called into action to deal with Reagan Ogle’s long-range effort after seven minutes. Barrow responded through Alex Reid, who cut inside before sending a shot narrowly wide of the far post, while Rekeem Harper was denied an opening when Scunthorpe recovered after he had been played through on goal.
There were chances for the hosts as the first half developed. Seb Thompson released Reid around the 20-minute mark, only for goalkeeper Maison Campbell to come quickly off his line to make the save, before Thompson fired narrowly wide. Isaac Marriott also tried to capitalise on a Scunthorpe mistake late in the half but sent his effort over the crossbar, leaving the sides goalless at the break.
Barrow continued to create opportunities after the restart. Campbell pushed Marriott’s effort behind before producing another good save to keep out Reid’s volley. Scunthorpe had a chance of their own around the hour mark, when Winterbottom made an important save to keep the scores level.
The breakthrough finally came in the 68th minute. Marcel Oakley made the run before pulling the ball back for Harper, who finished to give Barrow the lead and score for the third successive league game.
Scunthorpe had introduced Will Evans and Tyrell Sellars-Fleming in the 56th minute, with Luke Brennan following in the 69th, but Barrow doubled their advantage just three minutes after the opener. Thompson’s initial effort was saved by Campbell, but the rebound dropped to Reid, who converted for 2-0.
Arian Allen replaced Harper in the 75th minute and completed the scoring in the 87th, firing home his first goal for Barrow to put the result beyond doubt. It completed a strong finish from the hosts after the match had remained goalless for more than an hour.
The victory was Barrow’s third in succession following wins over Aldershot Town and Southend United, with Adam Murray’s side scoring eight goals across those three matches. It also gave them a third consecutive home clean sheet in the league.
Barrow ended Tuesday night’s fixtures in 12th place with 15 points from 11 matches, having won four, drawn three and lost four, with 18 goals scored and 14 conceded. Scunthorpe remained 20th on 10 points after suffering their third defeat in four league games.
