Woking 2-4 Solihull Moors

Solihull Moors claimed only their second National League victory of the season with a 4-2 win over ten-man Woking at the Laithwaite Community Stadium, with Jamie Andrews scoring twice in an eventful contest.

The visitors made the perfect start when Jacob Wakeling opened the scoring after just six minutes. Scott High provided the pass and Wakeling converted for his fifth league goal of the season to put Solihull ahead.

Woking responded with two goals in the space of three minutes. Roy Syla set up Matt Ward to equalise in the 23rd minute before Josh Kelly supplied John Marquis, who struck in the 25th to turn the game around and put the Cards 2-1 ahead.

Their advantage lasted only two minutes. Andrews scored his first of the evening in the 27th minute to bring Solihull level at 2-2, completing a remarkable spell in which three goals had been scored in just four minutes.

Solihull then regained the lead on the stroke of half-time. Wakeling turned provider for High, who scored in the 45th minute to send the visitors into the interval 3-2 ahead after a five-goal first half.

Woking made a change at the break, with Aiden O’Brien replacing Steven Turner, but their hopes of another comeback suffered a major setback in the 56th minute when Jaiden Putman was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card. The Cards were left to play more than half an hour with ten men while chasing an equaliser.

Woking introduced Jake Forster-Caskey and Liam Dulson shortly after the hour, while Solihull replaced Carter Pinnington with Tyler French in the 69th minute. The visitors eventually made their numerical advantage count with 13 minutes remaining.

Matty Carson supplied Andrews in the 77th minute and the midfielder scored his second of the night to give Solihull a two-goal cushion. Both sides made further changes shortly afterwards, but there was no way back for Woking as Moors saw out the closing stages for a 4-2 victory.

The result ended Woking’s four-match unbeaten run in the National League, which had included Saturday’s 5-2 victory at Carlisle United. For Solihull, it was just their second league win of the campaign and their first away victory, ending consecutive defeats against Yeovil Town and Boreham Wood. Moors moved onto seven points from 11 matches, while Woking remained on 12 points.

Right then, let’s get stuck into this Woking v Solihull Moors clash. The final whistle blew with a 2-4 scoreline, and it was Solihull Moors who took all three points.

Now, the bookies had Woking as favourites at 1.83, with Solihull a decent 3.50 shot. TopB1ns Edge, however, fancied a bit of an upset, tipping Woking to win. Bit of a swing and a miss there from the Edge, eh? Teething troubles, I reckon.

When it came to the Over/Unders, it was a mixed bag for the Edge. We saw Over 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 all coming in, which was pretty much a given with those odds. The Edge also correctly predicted Under 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 goals, which is where the real value was. The bookies were expecting a bit more of a goal fest than what ultimately transpired, especially with the odds on the higher numbers. Bit of a surprise result with Woking losing at home, but the Edge’s Over/Under calls were spot on.
