Woking and Kidderminster Harriers shared the points after a goalless draw at the Laithwaite Community Stadium, with both sides creating opportunities but neither able to find the decisive breakthrough. The hosts struck the woodwork during the contest, while both goalkeepers were called upon as the two teams ultimately had to settle for a point.
Woking started positively and looked to build on their emphatic 5-1 victory over Altrincham in their previous home fixture. Kidderminster arrived in Surrey following a 1-0 midweek victory over Gateshead and also threatened during a competitive opening period as both sides looked for an early advantage.
The contest became increasingly physical as the first half developed. Woking’s Tim Akinola received the first yellow card in the 28th minute before Kidderminster’s David Davis was cautioned just a minute later. Both teams continued to create promising situations, but neither was able to convert them into the opening goal and the sides went into half-time level at 0-0.
The second half began in similarly competitive fashion, with Woking’s Timi Odusina booked in the 49th minute before Richard Faakye joined him in the referee’s notebook shortly afterwards. Woking looked for a breakthrough and came agonisingly close when an effort struck the woodwork, while Kidderminster continued to pose a threat at the other end.
As the match moved beyond the hour mark, Kidderminster manager Paul Wotton turned to his bench. Zak Brown replaced Davis in the 66th minute before Cameron Hargreaves was introduced for Levi Amantchi a minute later as the visitors looked for fresh impetus during the closing stages.
Woking responded with a double change of their own in the 71st minute. Steven Turner and Liam Dulson were introduced in place of Jake Forster-Caskey and Aiden O’Brien as the hosts continued to search for a way through the Harriers defence.
Both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock as the match entered its final stages, but the goalkeepers and defensive units continued to hold firm. Luey Giles was cautioned for Kidderminster in the 83rd minute before Woking made another attacking change, with Josh Kelly replacing Matt Ward shortly afterwards.
The closing minutes brought further pressure but no decisive goal. Kidderminster protected their clean sheet while Woking were also able to keep the visitors out, and referee Harry Wager’s final whistle confirmed a 0-0 draw and a point apiece.
The result left Kidderminster Harriers third in the completed Saturday National League table with 18 points from nine matches, having won five, drawn three and lost once. Woking finished the day 17th with nine points from nine games, with the draw providing a point after their midweek defeat at Boston United.
