Altrincham 0-0 Kidderminster Harriers

Altrincham struck the woodwork twice in stoppage time but were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Kidderminster Harriers at the J. Davidson Stadium, where Luey Giles was sent off midway through the second half. The result ended the Robins’ five-match home league winning run.

The hosts had an early opportunity when Sam Taylor reached the byline and pulled the ball back for Aidan Barlow, who sent his first-time effort wide from eight yards. Kidderminster responded in the 15th minute when David Davis released Lewis Walker, whose angled shot clipped the outside of the post.

Altrincham introduced Kian Breckin for Charlie Kirk in the 17th minute, while Harriers were forced into a change when Reece Devine suffered an injury and was replaced by Michael Reindorf in the 29th. Cameron Hargreaves also went close for the visitors with a shot from outside the area.

Kidderminster had another opportunity in the 35th minute when Callum Stewart combined with teammates inside the penalty area and struck a low effort towards the bottom corner, forcing Harry Isted to turn the ball away. Three minutes later, Lucas Weaver met a delivery from six yards out at the other end, but Jack Wint reacted to keep out his header.

Reindorf had a chance shortly after half-time but curled his effort over the bar, while Weaver shot into the side-netting for Altrincham. Max Brogan then tested Isted with a low strike before Altrincham captain Tom Crawford sent a first-time effort wide from close range in the 64th minute.

Kidderminster were reduced to 10 men two minutes later when Giles blocked Weaver’s run as the forward cut inside, receiving a second yellow card from referee Jamie O’Connor. Crawford headed wide from the resulting free-kick, and Paul Wotton introduced Oliver Tipton for Stewart as Harriers adjusted to the dismissal.

Altrincham brought on Kristian Dennis for Otis Khan and later introduced Edward Jones and Reuben Lopata-White. Despite their numerical advantage, the hosts could not find a breakthrough, while Kidderminster nearly created a winner of their own from an 89th-minute free-kick that caused a scramble inside the Altrincham penalty area.

The clearest chances came in stoppage time. Dennis helped on a Taylor cross and Weaver struck the post from point-blank range. The ball was returned into the area and Crawford headed against the crossbar from close range, before Wint produced another save to deny Barlow’s powerful shot.

Altrincham’s first league draw of the season left Neil Gibson’s side sixth with 28 points from 15 games, ending their sequence of five successive home victories. The Robins remain unbeaten in three league matches following wins over Aldershot Town and Yeovil Town.

Kidderminster extended their winless league run to seven matches, but Wotton’s side secured a second successive away clean sheet following their goalless draw at Carlisle United. Harriers finished Tuesday tenth in the National League with 21 points from 15 matches.

TopB1ns Edge

Right then, let’s get stuck into this Altrincham versus Kidderminster Harriers clash. The final whistle blew on a 0-0 draw, a result that’ll have left most punters scratching their heads and the bookies breathing a sigh of relief. The odds were split fairly evenly, with Altrincham just about fancied at 1.90, but the draw and Kidderminster were both hovering at a juicy 3.60.

Now, where did TopB1ns Edge stand? Well, it was looking for an Altrincham win, so that one’s a bit of a miss, a definite teething issue there for version 1.0. The big miss, however, was on the Both Teams to Score market. TopB1ns Edge was shouting for ‘Yes’ at 1.70, but we all know how that panned out – a big fat ‘No’ at 2.05. That’s a proper blow, that is.

On the Over/Under front, it was a bit of a mixed bag. TopB1ns Edge was all over the Overs for 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 goals, seeing value where the odds weren’t even listed for the 0.5. Clearly, the goals didn’t materialise, as all those were unders. However, it did correctly predict unders for 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5, which shows the model’s got a decent grasp on when games are likely to be tight. All in all, a bit of a rough night for the Edge, but that’s the game, isn’t it? We’ll regroup and go again.
