Woking face unbeaten National League leaders Boreham Wood for the second time in 10 days when the sides meet at The Laithwaite Community Stadium on Tuesday evening, with Craig Ross’s side looking to respond to their recent 3-2 FA Cup defeat against the same opponents.
Josh Kelly scored twice for Woking in that cup meeting on 17 October, opening the scoring before Boreham Wood recovered to win through goals from Tarryn Allarakhia, Danny Cashman and Lewis Richardson. Kelly’s second came in first-half stoppage time, but Richardson’s late winner secured Boreham Wood’s place in the next round.
Woking returned to winning ways in the National League on Saturday with a 3-2 victory at Scunthorpe United. Aiden O’Brien scored twice and John Marquis converted a penalty as the Cards established a three-goal lead, but Rico Browne was sent off in the 61st minute and Scunthorpe fought back through James Norwood and Luke Brennan. Substitute goalkeeper Vicente Reyes also saved a penalty as Woking held on for the points.
Boreham Wood extended their unbeaten league start to 14 matches with a 4-0 victory over AFC Fylde on Saturday, their seventh successive league win. Zak Brunt scored twice and missed a penalty, while Tylor Golden registered his first goal for the club and Jay Bird also found the net. Luke Garrard’s side have won 12 and drawn two of their opening 14 league fixtures.
Wood have been particularly effective away from home, winning six of their seven league trips and drawing the other. They arrive with 38 points, 20 ahead of 13th-placed Woking, who have taken 18 points from 14 matches. The leaders have also scored in every league fixture this season.
Woking have been managing a substantial injury list. In an update on 16 October, the club reported nine senior players sidelined, including Chinwike Okoli, Zico Asare and Jake Forster-Caskey, although several were expected to return within the following 10 days. Their availability for Tuesday remains to be confirmed. Boreham Wood have also had a goalkeeping change, with Tottenham Hotspur recalling Luca Gunter from his loan spell.
The clubs’ last league meeting at Woking in March ended 2-2, with Matt Rush scoring twice for Boreham Wood, including a stoppage-time equaliser after the visitors had played more than an hour with 10 men. Wood also won the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier in the 2025/26 campaign, with Rush scoring the only goal.
Tuesday’s meeting gives Woking an immediate opportunity to respond to their cup defeat, while Boreham Wood will be seeking an eighth consecutive league victory and looking to preserve the division’s only unbeaten record.
