Hornchurch welcome Yeovil Town to Hornchurch Stadium on Tuesday evening having won their last three home National League matches, while the sixth-placed Glovers arrive looking to respond to the defeat that ended their six-match unbeaten league run.
Daryl McMahon’s side have beaten Scunthorpe United, Aldershot Town and Eastleigh in their last three league games at Hornchurch Stadium. Their most recent home victory came against Eastleigh, with Dominic Poleon opening the scoring before former Spitfires defender Jack Baldwin headed in the second from an Alfie Massey corner.
Hornchurch were beaten 2-1 at Hartlepool United on Saturday despite taking the lead through Angelo Balanta immediately after half-time. Hartlepool had Neo Eccleston sent off in the 68th minute, but a Ryan Inniss own goal brought the hosts level before substitute Luke Charman scored the winner. The defeat left Hornchurch tenth with 21 points from 14 matches.
Yeovil’s unbeaten league run ended with a 2-1 home defeat to Altrincham on Saturday. Johl Powell put Billy Rowley’s side ahead in the 14th minute, but Charlie Kirk equalised after Ben Radcliffe’s attempted clearance was intercepted, and substitute Kristian Dennis scored the winner in the closing minutes.
Radcliffe was sent off in stoppage time and is reported to be serving a three-match suspension, ruling the on-loan Crawley Town defender out of Tuesday’s fixture. His absence gives Yeovil a selection issue following a match in which they had opportunities to extend their first-half lead.
The defeat followed successive 6-0 victories over Boston United and Wealdstone, with Brett McGavin scoring his first career hat-trick in the latter game and Powell contributing four goals across the two fixtures. Yeovil have scored 33 goals in their opening 14 league matches, although their run of six without defeat ended against Altrincham.
Yeovil enter the fixture sixth in the National League with 25 points, four ahead of Hornchurch. The hosts’ three-match home winning run and Yeovil’s recent scoring form provide the central contrast ahead of their first league meeting of the season.
