Tamworth welcome Scunthorpe United to The Lamb Ground on Tuesday evening with both clubs looking to respond to defeats in their most recent National League fixtures. The Lambs have taken 14 points from 13 matches, while Scunthorpe sit four points behind after a difficult opening to the campaign.
Andy Peaks’s side were beaten 2-1 by Barrow in their latest league outing, despite a late attempt to rescue a point. Rekeem Harper’s penalty and Corey Edwards’ volley had put Barrow two goals ahead before Teo Kurtaran converted an 89th-minute spot-kick. Substitute Ben Acquaye then came close to equalising in stoppage time, sending his effort inches wide.
Tamworth had previously beaten Hartlepool United 1-0 away and Sutton United 2-0 at home, with Kieren Donnelly scoring the winner at Victoria Park. Those victories formed part of a sequence of three wins in four league games before the defeat to Barrow. The Lambs also exited the FA Cup following a 2-1 defeat at Carlisle United on 17 October.
Scunthorpe’s latest league defeat came in an eventful 3-2 home loss to Woking. Aiden O’Brien scored twice and John Marquis converted a penalty as the visitors established a three-goal lead, but Rico Browne’s dismissal gave Andy Butler’s side a route back into the contest. James Norwood had a penalty saved by Vicente Reyes before scoring from the rebound, and Luke Brennan curled home a late free-kick, but Scunthorpe could not find an equaliser.
The Iron have lost three successive National League matches, having previously been beaten 2-0 at AFC Fylde and 3-0 at Barrow. Their most recent league victory was a 4-1 home win over Hartlepool United in September, although they have since beaten Boston United 3-1 in the FA Cup.
Scunthorpe won both league meetings between the clubs last season, recording a 2-1 victory at The Lamb Ground in August 2025 before winning 3-1 at home in December. Tamworth had previously won 1-0 at Scunthorpe in the National League North in January 2024.
The hosts begin Tuesday’s fixture with 14 points from 13 league matches, compared with Scunthorpe’s 10 points from 13. Both sides have struggled for consistency, but their recent defeats included late opportunities to recover, giving this meeting a more immediate context than their league positions alone.
