Harrogate Town welcome Hornchurch to the Marcy Fitness Stadium on Saturday looking for a third successive National League victory. The hosts begin the weekend second in the table on 22 points, while newly-promoted Hornchurch are tenth with 18.
Harrogate followed a 4-1 home victory over Eastleigh with a 1-0 win at Hartlepool United on Tuesday. Bailey Hobson scored the only goal at Victoria Park, his fourth in five league matches, as Harrogate also recorded their first clean sheet since beating Scunthorpe United at the beginning of September.
Those victories provided a strong response to successive defeats against Fylde and leaders Boreham Wood. Simon Weaver’s side have won seven of their opening 11 National League matches and scored in every one, with 25 goals making them one of the division’s leading attacking sides.
Hornchurch also arrive on the back of a victory after beating Aldershot Town 2-1 on Tuesday. Dominic Poleon opened the scoring before Hakeem Sandah equalised shortly before half-time, with George Alexander restoring Hornchurch’s lead on the hour to secure their sixth league win of the season.
The result provided an immediate response to a 3-0 defeat at Altrincham. Hornchurch’s recent sequence has been less consistent, with victories over Scunthorpe and Aldershot among three defeats in their last five matches, but they remain on 18 points after winning six of their opening 11 games.
Saturday will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs and Hornchurch’s first visit to the Marcy Fitness Stadium. It is another new fixture during the Urchins’ first season in the National League following promotion from National League South, while Harrogate returned to the fifth tier this season following relegation from League Two.
Harrogate enter the weekend second with seven wins, one draw and three defeats from 11 matches, scoring 25 and conceding 17. Hornchurch are four points behind after six wins and five defeats, with 13 goals scored and 16 conceded.
Harrogate’s 11-match scoring run and successive victories provide the immediate backdrop at the Marcy Fitness Stadium, while Hornchurch travel north after responding to three defeats in four with Tuesday’s win over Aldershot.
