Solihull Moors welcome FC Halifax Town to Damson Park on Saturday looking to build on their first away victory of the National League season. Moors remain 23rd after a difficult opening 11 matches, while Halifax arrive having gone three games without a win.
Solihull produced their highest-scoring performance of the season at Woking on Tuesday, winning 4-2 despite having taken just four points from their opening ten league games. Jacob Wakeling gave Moors an early lead before Woking scored twice in quick succession, but Jamie Andrews equalised and Scott High restored the visitors’ advantage before half-time.
Woking were reduced to ten men early in the second half before Andrews scored his second of the evening to complete the victory. The result ended consecutive defeats against Yeovil Town and Boreham Wood and gave Solihull their second league win of the campaign, following a 1-0 home victory over Barrow earlier in September.
Halifax make the trip after a 1-1 draw with Boston United on Tuesday. Conor Carty equalised two minutes after half-time after Lennon Wheeldon had put Boston ahead, with Pilgrims goalkeeper Louis Chadwick producing several saves as Halifax searched for a winner.
The Shaymen have taken eight points from their last five league matches. Victories over Gateshead and Hartlepool United were followed by a defeat at Carlisle and draws with Sutton United and Boston. Halifax have scored in each of those five games, with Carty finding the net in the two most recent draws.
Recent meetings provide Halifax with positive memories of this fixture. The Shaymen completed a league double over Solihull last season, winning both matches 3-0. Will Harris scored a hat-trick in the first meeting at The Shay before finding the net again in the return fixture at Damson Park, alongside Owen Bray and Florent Hoti.
Solihull enter the weekend 23rd with seven points from 11 matches, having won twice and lost eight. They have scored 12 goals and conceded 27. Halifax have 14 points from 11 games after four wins, two draws and five defeats, with 16 scored and 14 conceded.
Tuesday offered Solihull some respite from a difficult start, with four goals at Woking matching a third of their league total from the opening ten matches. Halifax have been more consistent in front of goal recently, scoring in five successive games, but travel to Damson Park looking for their first victory in four.
