Carlisle United welcome Woking to Brunton Park on Saturday afternoon, with just one point separating the sides after nine National League matches. The Cumbrians begin the weekend 16th with 10 points, while Woking sit 18th on nine, giving both sides an opportunity to make progress in a tightly packed section of the table.
Carlisle arrive looking to end a four-match winless run. Rob Elliot’s side have taken two points from those fixtures, drawing with Harrogate Town and Aldershot Town before defeats against Scunthorpe United and Eastleigh. Their most recent outing ended in a 1-0 defeat at the Silverlake Stadium, where Aaron Blair’s first-half goal proved decisive despite Carlisle creating opportunities to equalise after the break.
The Cumbrians’ only victory in their last six league matches came in an entertaining 4-2 win over Scunthorpe United. Carlisle have nevertheless remained a consistent attacking threat across the opening weeks of the campaign, scoring 16 goals in nine matches, although last weekend’s defeat at Eastleigh was the first time they had failed to score in the National League this season.
Woking travel north after a goalless draw against Kidderminster Harriers at the Laithwaite Community Stadium. Both sides created opportunities, with Woking hitting the woodwork, but neither could find the breakthrough as the Cardinals collected their ninth point of the campaign.
The draw followed a 2-1 defeat away at Boston United, but Woking had produced one of the standout results of their season immediately before that, thrashing Altrincham 5-1 at home. Their recent results have therefore been mixed, although Neal Ardley’s side have lost only once in their last four league matches.
The clubs met twice in the National League last season, with each recording an away victory. Carlisle won 2-0 at the Laithwaite Community Stadium on the opening day of the 2025/26 campaign, with Luke Armstrong breaking the deadlock before Ethan Robson added a second from a free-kick.
Woking responded when the teams met at Brunton Park in December. Junior Luamba gave Carlisle the lead, but Jamie Andrews equalised before Tunji Akinola struck in first-half stoppage time to turn the game around. Aiden O’Brien added a third in the 90th minute as Woking secured a 3-1 victory and ended Carlisle’s nine-match unbeaten league run.
