Solihull Moors face Kidderminster Harriers for the second time in a fortnight when the sides meet at Damson Park on Saturday, with Chris Millington’s team looking to build on their first National League victory in five matches. Kidderminster won the recent FA Cup encounter 2-1 but arrive without a league victory in seven games and with Luey Giles suspended.
The clubs met at Aggborough on 17 October in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, when Lewis Walker gave Kidderminster the lead with a 15th-minute strike from outside the penalty area. Callum Stewart doubled the advantage shortly after half-time following David Davis’s low cross, before Scott High pulled a goal back for Solihull in the 58th minute.
The cup tie remained in the balance until stoppage time, when Marvin Johnson struck a low free-kick towards the corner of the net. Kidderminster goalkeeper Jack Wint produced an excellent save to preserve the 2-1 victory and secure Harriers’ place in the first round, where they will face Doncaster Rovers in November.
Solihull returned to winning ways in the National League on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory at Wealdstone, ending a run of four successive league defeats. Johnson opened the scoring in the third minute before Jamie Andrews doubled the lead in the 19th. Aaron Henry pulled one back for Wealdstone in the 81st minute, but substitute High restored Solihull’s two-goal advantage three minutes later, with Fejiri Okenabirhie’s late reply proving insufficient.
Kidderminster were held to a goalless draw at Altrincham on Tuesday despite playing the final 24 minutes with 10 men. Giles received a second yellow card in the 66th minute, but Wint made important saves and the hosts struck the woodwork twice in stoppage time. Lucas Weaver hit the post before Tom Crawford headed against the crossbar as Harriers held on to end Altrincham’s five-match home winning sequence.
Wotton praised his side’s defensive performance afterwards, describing their efforts against Altrincham as excellent. However, the Harriers manager faces selection problems ahead of the return to Solihull. Giles is suspended following his dismissal, while Reece Devine is awaiting scan results after suffering a hamstring injury. Richard Faakye is available again, and Wotton remains hopeful of adding to his squad.
The clubs’ previous National League meetings came during the 2023/24 season, when both fixtures ended in 1-0 away victories. Mark Warburton scored Solihull’s winner at Aggborough in September 2023, while Jack Lambert secured Kidderminster’s victory at Damson Park the following February. Their more recent FA Cup meeting gives Saturday’s fixture an additional point of reference.
Solihull enter the match 23rd in the National League with 10 points from 15 games, while Kidderminster sit 11th on 21 points from the same number of fixtures. Millington’s side are seeking successive league victories for the first time this season, while Harriers are looking to end a seven-match winless sequence despite their recent cup success against the same opponents.
