Harrogate Town travel to Brunton Park on Wednesday evening seeking a sixth successive National League victory against a Carlisle United side unbeaten in their last four league matches. The visitors sit second with 31 points from 14 games, 11 ahead of Carlisle, who have recovered from their 5-2 home defeat against Woking in September.
Rob Elliot’s side extended their unbeaten league sequence with a 2-1 comeback victory at Solihull Moors on Saturday. Ben Wodskou had put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time, but captain Morgan Feeney equalised in the 69th minute before substitute David Ajiboye volleyed home Callum Whelan’s cross eight minutes later. Carlisle also struck the woodwork through Whelan before the interval.
The victory followed away wins against AFC Fylde and Aldershot Town and a goalless home draw with Kidderminster Harriers. Carlisle were denied a third successive league win in that draw when Jack Wint saved Regan Linney’s stoppage-time penalty. The Cumbrians have also progressed in the FA Cup after beating Tamworth 2-1, although that result is separate from their league form.
Harrogate recorded their fifth consecutive league victory with a 3-1 home win over Sutton United on Saturday. Will McGowan was forced off injured in the 27th minute and replacement George Thomson made an immediate impact, setting up Bailey Hobson’s opener before scoring the third himself. Josh Hmami also found the net as Simon Weaver’s side scored three times between the 30th and 35th minutes.
The Sulphurites had previously beaten Woking 1-0 away, Hornchurch 3-0 at home and Hartlepool United 1-0 away, recording three successive clean sheets before Sutton’s second-half reply. Ellis Taylor scored the winner at Woking on his return to the starting line-up, while goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson made several important saves to preserve the lead.
McGowan’s injury against Sutton presents a potential selection concern for Harrogate, although his availability for Wednesday has not been confirmed. Thomson’s contribution from the bench demonstrated the options available to Weaver, with the substitute directly involved in two of the three goals during Harrogate’s decisive first-half spell.
Harrogate have enjoyed the better of the clubs’ recent league meetings. They won 1-0 at home in March 2025, while the previous meeting at Brunton Park ended 1-1 in October 2024. Carlisle also recorded an EFL Trophy victory over Harrogate in November 2023, but that result is separate from the league head-to-head record.
Harrogate enter Wednesday’s fixture seven points behind unbeaten leaders Boreham Wood, while Carlisle have 20 points from 14 league games. The visitors are seeking a sixth successive league win, with Elliot’s side looking to extend their four-match unbeaten run against one of the division’s leading teams.
