Sutton United and Aldershot Town meet at The 360 Engage Stadium on Wednesday evening with both clubs on 18 National League points and searching for an end to their winless runs. Sutton have gone six league matches without victory, while Aldershot have lost their last four, although the previous four league meetings between the sides have all finished level.
Chris Agutter’s Sutton side were beaten 3-1 at Harrogate Town on Saturday after conceding three goals in five first-half minutes. Spike Brits had made several important saves before Bailey Hobson, Josh Hmami and George Thomson put Harrogate 3-0 ahead. Sutton improved after the interval, with substitute Sam Folarin creating Ben Brookes’ first goal for the club, but could not reduce the deficit further.
The defeat followed a 2-0 home loss to unbeaten leaders Boreham Wood, a 1-1 draw at Kidderminster Harriers and a 2-0 defeat at Tamworth. Sutton’s last league victory came against Eastleigh on 15 September, although they have since beaten Truro City in the FA Cup and West Bromwich Albion Under-21s in the National League Cup.
Aldershot suffered their fourth successive league defeat on Saturday when former manager Gary Waddock returned to the EBB Stadium with Wealdstone and secured a 1-0 victory. Olufela Olomola headed the winner shortly after half-time, but Scott Davies’s side had opportunities to equalise. Michee Efete was denied by an important Sam Long save, while Brody Peart headed wide.
The Shots had also lost to Hornchurch, Carlisle United and Altrincham in their previous three league fixtures. Their most recent league victory was a 5-1 home win over Tamworth on 26 September. They have nevertheless progressed in the FA Cup, beating Tadley Calleva 2-0 in a replay following a 2-2 draw in the original tie.
The last four National League meetings between Sutton and Aldershot have all ended in draws. The clubs shared 1-1 results in both 2024/25 fixtures before a goalless draw at Sutton in December 2025 and a 2-2 draw at the EBB Stadium in April 2026. Neither side has won this league fixture since Sutton’s 3-1 home victory in May 2021.
Sutton begin Wednesday 16th in the National League with 18 points from 14 matches, while Aldershot are 14th with the same points total. The hosts are seeking their first league win in seven attempts, while Davies’s side are looking to avoid a fifth successive league defeat.
