The initial period was a cautious exchange as both teams sought to establish dominance. Harrogate Town eventually broke the deadlock just before the interval, with Archie Baptiste finding the net in the 44th minute to provide his team with a vital 1-0 advantage.
Following the restart, Harrogate Town extended their lead. Bryn Morris doubled the score in the 58th minute, appearing to place the game firmly out of Solihull Moors’ grasp. However, the visitors demonstrated admirable resilience, mounting a determined fightback. Jacob Wakeling reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute, his goal assisted by Ben Wodskou, sparking a glimmer of hope for the away team. This momentum was sustained as Tyler French, again provided by Wodskou, equalised in the 81st minute, setting the stage for a nail-biting conclusion.
Just as Solihull Moors seemed to have seized control of the proceedings, Harrogate Town responded emphatically. A rapid brace from substitute Ciaran McGuckin, who had entered the field in the 71st minute, in the 84th and 90th minutes, decisively shifted the momentum back in favour of the hosts. McGuckin’s second goal was set up by George Thomson, another substitute introduced in the 71st minute. The victory was sealed in the 96th minute when Rohan Vaughan, a substitute since the 82nd minute, added a fifth goal for Harrogate Town.
This win places Harrogate Town at the summit of the English National League table with a perfect record and three points. Solihull Moors, conversely, will be disheartened by the outcome and currently occupy 22nd position in the league standings, with zero points.
