The Mangata Developments Stadium at Meadow Park hosted a pulsating encounter as Boreham Wood and Tamworth shared the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw in the English National League. Tamworth took the lead just moments after the restart, in the 46th minute. Kieren Donnelly found the net, with Tyler Lyttle providing the assist for the crucial opening goal. However, the advantage proved to be short-lived. Boreham Wood responded swiftly, levelling the score in the 50th minute through Matt Rush, who was assisted by Zak Brunt.
The see-saw battle continued as Tamworth regained their advantage in the 57th minute. Kieren Donnelly was on target once more, this time set up by Nathan Tshikuna, making it 2-1 to the visitors. Undeterred, Boreham Wood once again demonstrated their resilience. In the 67th minute, Matt Rush netted his second of the game, assisted by the substitute Abdul Abdulmalik, who had entered the fray only minutes earlier. The momentum had firmly shifted, and Boreham Wood capitalised. Just three minutes later, in the 70th minute, Matt Rush completed his hat-trick, firing home to put Boreham Wood into a commanding 3-2 lead, with Zak Brunt again providing the assist.
With victory seemingly within their grasp, Boreham Wood were pegged back in the dying moments of the second half. In the 102nd minute, Tamworth were awarded a penalty. Ben Milnes, who had also come on as a substitute, stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw for his side.
The draw sees both Boreham Wood and Tamworth take their first points of the season. Both teams currently sit in joint tenth place in the league standings. Boreham Wood, having already secured their playoff spot for the season, will look to build on their attacking prowess, while Tamworth will be pleased to have secured a point on the road after such a dramatic finish.
