The opening period was a cagey affair, with neither side able to assert dominance. Opportunities were scarce, and the defences were largely on top. Forest Green Rovers saw Syd Agina booked in the 36th minute for a foul, but this did little to spark any significant momentum for the visitors. The half concluded goalless, a reflection of the tight nature of the contest.
At the commencement of the second half, Forest Green Rovers introduced Sean Etaluku in place of James Berry, signalling an intent to push for a breakthrough. However, it was Fylde who began to find their rhythm. Tactical adjustments from Fylde’s coaching staff appeared to pay dividends.

Nevertheless, Fylde’s defence, marshalled effectively throughout the match, held firm. The visitors’ frustration became evident when Tate Campbell received a yellow card in the 79th minute, followed by Theo Upton of Fylde in the 80th minute for fouls. Luca Thomas was also booked for Fylde in the dying moments of the game.
Fylde made a late substitution in the 83rd minute, with Luca Thomas replacing Theo Upton, a move perhaps aimed at shoring up the midfield and seeing out the game. Despite the late bookings, Fylde managed to maintain their composure and secure a comfortable 2-0 victory.
This win sees Fylde climb to eighth in the English National League standings with seven points from four games, having recorded two wins, one draw, and one loss. Forest Green Rovers, despite the defeat, remain in a strong position, already qualified for the playoffs, and sit 14th in the league with six points from four matches, having won two and lost two. This result, however, marks their second consecutive defeat and highlights a recent dip in form, including failing to score in their last two outings.
