Solihull Moors secured a hard-fought victory over Altrincham at Damson Park, with Joe Sbarra’s early goal proving decisive in their English National League encounter.
The breakthrough came in the tenth minute, following a bright start by the home side. Isaac Moore provided the assist, threading a pass to Sbarra, who confidently found the back of the net to give Solihull Moors an early lead.
Altrincham responded positively, applying sustained pressure and probing the Moors’ defence. However, Solihull Moors’ backline, marshalled effectively throughout, held firm, ensuring they maintained their slender one-goal advantage heading into the half-time interval.
The second half saw tactical adjustments from both teams. Altrincham introduced Tylor Golden into defence in the 58th minute. Solihull Moors followed suit shortly after, bringing on Conor Wilkinson in the 60th minute.
The intensity of the match increased, leading to several bookings from referee Dale Baines. Emmanuel Sonupe of Solihull Moors was cautioned in the 54th minute for a foul. In the 77th minute, Joe Sbarra received a yellow card for a similar offence, with Matthew Kosylo of Altrincham also cautioned for a foul in the same minute. The closing stages saw further yellow cards issued for fouls, with Isaac Moore and Tom Crawford of Solihull Moors booked in second-half stoppage time. Altrincham made further substitutions, introducing Callum McFarlane, Charlie Kirk, and Sam Barnes as they pushed for an equaliser.
Despite Altrincham’s late surge and increased possession, Solihull Moors’ defence remained resolute, successfully weathering the pressure to secure all three points.
Following this result, Solihull Moors have climbed to 12th in the National League standings, accumulating 48 points from 40 games. Altrincham remain in 15th place, with 47 points from their 40 matches.
