Altrincham secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Truro City at the J. Davidson Stadium, extending their impressive recent run. The home side took the lead in the 27th minute through Declan Howe, before Liam Humbles doubled their advantage just before half-time.
The first half saw Altrincham assert their dominance. Following a cagey opening, the breakthrough came from Howe, who found the net to put the Robins ahead. The goal seemed to galvanise the home side, and their efforts were rewarded in the 42nd minute when Humbles added a second, giving Altrincham a commanding lead heading into the interval.
Truro City, struggling at the foot of the table, attempted to find a foothold in the second half. Manager John Askey made an early substitution in the 54th minute, bringing on Ryan Law for Connor Riley-Lowe. However, Altrincham remained resolute, effectively managing the game and limiting Truro’s opportunities.
Altrincham also made tactical adjustments, with manager Neil Gibson opting to substitute goalscorer Declan Howe in the 59th minute, introducing Lucas Weaver. Truro City continued to probe, making further substitutions with Tyler Harvey and Luke Jephcott being introduced. However, Altrincham’s defence held firm.
The second half was largely controlled by Altrincham, who managed the game with experience. Referee Richard Aspinall issued yellow cards to Altrincham’s Luke Hutchinson in the 67th minute and Isaac Marriott in the dying moments of the game for fouls.
The victory sees Altrincham continue their ascent in the English National League standings, moving up to 13th place with 43 points. Truro City, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the league, occupying 24th position with 25 points. Altrincham’s recent form, marked by a two-game winning streak and scoring in their last five matches, contrasts sharply with Truro City’s struggles, who are now winless in seven and have failed to score in their last fixture.
