Altrincham secured a valuable away victory against Brackley Town at St. James Park, clinching a 2-0 win thanks to second-half strikes. The encounter, played in the English National League, saw Altrincham deservedly take all three points, extending Brackley Town’s recent struggles.
The first half remained a tight affair for the majority, with neither side able to establish a clear dominance. However, as the interval loomed, Altrincham found the breakthrough. In the 44th minute, Jake Cooper broke the deadlock, finding the net after being set up by Edward Jones. This goal provided the visitors with a crucial advantage heading into the break.
The second half saw Brackley Town attempting to force their way back into the match, making tactical adjustments with a substitution in the 53rd minute, bringing on Riccardo Calder for Ryan Haynes. Altrincham also made changes in the 67th minute, with Kahrel Reddin and Samuel Reed entering the fray, replacing Oliver Crankshaw and Liam Humbles respectively.
The home side continued to push for an equaliser, with further changes made in the 68th minute, introducing Ben Wodskou for Kian Harratt, and later Connor Hall and Joe Andrews in the 80th minute for Aidan Elliott-Wheeler and Shane Byrne. Despite their efforts and the introduction of fresh legs, Brackley Town found it difficult to break down the Altrincham defence.
The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time. In the 95th minute, Altrincham sealed their victory through Declan Howe, who was assisted by substitute Samuel Reed. This late goal extinguished any lingering hopes Brackley Town had of salvaging a point.
The match saw a number of bookings, with Altrincham’s Jake Cooper, Josh Grant, and Samuel Reed all receiving yellow cards. Brackley Town’s Michael Nottingham, Matt Lowe, and Connor Hall were also cautioned.
Following this result, Brackley Town remain in 20th position in the league table with 36 points from 33 games, having suffered their third consecutive defeat. Altrincham, meanwhile, climb to 14th place with 40 points from 35 games, bolstering their position and ending Brackley Town’s recent winning streak against them.
