Rochdale 2-0 Truro City

Rochdale secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Truro City at the Crown Oil Arena, extending their impressive league campaign.

The home side asserted their dominance early on, finding the net within the opening minutes. Tyler Smith opened the scoring in the third minute, his effort finding the back of the net after being set up by Ian Henderson.

This early breakthrough set the tone for Rochdale, who continued to press their visitors. Their attacking intent was rewarded again in the 35th minute when Ian Henderson doubled their advantage. This time, the roles were reversed, with Tyler Smith providing the assist for Henderson’s strike.

Truro City, struggling to find their rhythm, made a tactical adjustment at half-time, bringing on Jack Stretton for Dominic Johnson-Fisher in an attempt to bolster their attacking threat. However, Rochdale remained largely in control of the match.

Substitutions continued in the second half as Truro City looked to salvage something from the game. In the 59th minute, Ryan Law was introduced for Luke Jephcott, signalling a shift in their approach. Rochdale also made changes, with Connor McBride replacing the goalscorer Tyler Smith in the 41st minute of the first half, and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe coming on for goalscorer Ian Henderson in the 65th minute. Daniel Moss was also brought on for Tobi Adebayo-Rowling in the 65th minute as Rochdale looked to manage the game. Truro City made a further change in the 73rd minute, with Zac Bell replacing Billy Palfrey.

Despite the tactical shifts, Rochdale maintained their composure, seeing out the remainder of the match to claim all three points. The victory further solidifies Rochdale’s position in the English National League, where they currently sit second in the table with 61 points from 25 games. Truro City, meanwhile, remain entrenched in the lower reaches of the league, occupying 22nd place with 21 points from 28 matches.

Right then, let’s have a look at this Rochdale v Truro City dust-up. The bookies had Rochdale as strong favourites at 3/10, and fair play, they delivered. TopB1ns Edge was bang on with the home win prediction. We also had a punt on Both Teams To Score being a ‘No’, and that came in at 4/5, so another one for the Edge.

Now, the Over/Under markets, this is where things got a bit spicy. TopB1ns Edge rightly predicted Over 0.5 and Over 1.5 goals, which both landed. But it also fancied Over 2.5 goals, which was a bit optimistic as it finished 2-0. That’s a bit of a sting in the tail, a teething issue for the model, I reckon. The other Over/Under bets, from 3.5 upwards, were all correctly predicted as ‘Under’ by the Edge, and they duly stayed that way. All in all, a decent day’s work for TopB1ns Edge, proving it’s got some serious smarts, even if it’s still learning the ropes.
