Boston United 3-3 Southend United

The Jakemans Community Stadium played host to a dramatic encounter as Boston United and Southend United shared the spoils in a pulsating 3-3 draw in the English National League.

Southend United opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Harry Boyes provided a well-placed pass to Andy Dallas, who found the net to give the visitors the lead. Boston United responded in the 28th minute, with Lenell John-Lewis scoring the equaliser, assisted by Frankie Maguire, to make it 1-1.

The second half saw the home side take the lead in the 54th minute when Frankie Maguire converted a penalty. Boston United extended their advantage four minutes later. Lenell John-Lewis scored his second goal of the match, again assisted by Frankie Maguire, to put the Pilgrims 3-1 ahead.

Southend United mounted a comeback, beginning in the 66th minute when Andy Dallas scored from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit to 3-2. The Shrimpers secured a point in the 81st minute. Substitute Slavi Spasov, who had come on in the 60th minute, netted the crucial equaliser.

The draw leaves Boston United in 19th place in the National League with 27 points from 29 games. Southend United remain in 8th place with 46 points from 26 fixtures.

Right then, let’s have a butchers at this Boston United versus Southend United clash. A proper six-pointer, this one, and it didn’t disappoint for drama, even if it cost us a few quid in the betting.

The final score was a frankly mental 3-3 draw. The bookies had Southend as strong favourites at 31/50, with Boston a chunky 4/1 and the draw at 13/5. Now, the TopB1ns Edge, bless its cotton socks, completely whiffed on the match outcome here. It was bang on about Southend to win, which, as we all saw, was about as likely as England winning the Euros with a team of bakers. The match result was a draw, so the TopB1ns Edge is still in its teething phase on the 1X2.

However, it did nail the Both Teams To Score (BTTS) with a “Yes” prediction, and that came in at a decent 4/5. The TopB1ns Edge was a bit more cautious on the Over/Under markets. It correctly predicted Over 0.5, Over 1.5, and Over 2.5 goals, all of which were no-brainers given the scoreline. But it got Over 3.5, Over 4.5, and Over 5.5 wrong, showing a bit of a blind spot for goal-fests. The TopB1ns Edge did correctly call Under 6.5, which was a given.

Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. The TopB1ns Edge is showing promise, especially with the goal markets, but it’s still got a bit of learning to do on the match outcomes. We’ll get there, though. Next time, we’ll be even sharper.
