The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Charley Kendall opened the scoring for Southend United, following an assist from Andy Dallas. This goal energised the home side, who continued to build momentum.
Southend United maintained their attacking pressure in the second half. Gus Scott-Morriss extended their lead four minutes after the restart, with Andy Dallas providing the assist once more. The Shrimpers’ relentless approach paid dividends in the 54th minute. Charley Kendall netted his second goal of the match, increasing Southend’s advantage to 3-0 and leaving Eastleigh with a considerable deficit.
Eastleigh managed to pull a goal back in the 80th minute, with Lloyd Humphries finding the net. However, Southend United had the final word. Substitute Josh Walker, who had entered the game only minutes prior, added a fourth goal in the 89th minute, completing a strong attacking display.
This victory sees Southend United move up to seventh place in the league table, accumulating 45 points from 25 games. Eastleigh remain in fifteenth place with 31 points from 27 matches.
