Boston United 0-2 Aldershot Town

Aldershot Town secured a valuable away victory, triumphing 2-0 over Boston United at the Jakemans Community Stadium. The visitors established their dominance early, finding the net twice within the opening half-hour to lay the foundations for a deserved three points.

The breakthrough arrived in the 14th minute. Following a neat interchange of play, Josh Barrett delivered a pinpoint assist to Ryan Hill, who confidently put Aldershot Town ahead. This early impetus spurred the visitors on, and they capitalised on their momentum just thirteen minutes later. James Henry turned provider on this occasion, setting up Theo Widdrington for Aldershot Town’s second goal of the afternoon.

Boston United, struggling to find their rhythm, attempted to respond. The home side made an early defensive substitution in the 7th minute, with Matt Penney replacing Tyler Frost. The Pilgrims continued to push for a way back into the contest in the second half, introducing Kieren Donnelly and Matty Carson in the 52nd minute, followed by Liam Waldock in the 60th minute, signalling a clear intent to bolster their midfield and attacking options. However, Aldershot Town’s defence remained resolute.

Aldershot Town also made changes to maintain control and see out the game. Theo Widdrington, who had contributed a goal, was substituted in the 63rd minute for Keane Anderson. Further substitutions saw Ryan Jones and Kwame Thomas introduced in the 78th minute, reinforcing their defensive and attacking lines respectively. Boston United made a final attacking substitution in the 72nd minute, bringing on Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila for Lenell John-Lewis, but it proved to be too little, too late.

The victory sees Aldershot Town continue their upward trajectory, moving onto 19 points and climbing to 21st in the National League table. Boston United, meanwhile, remain in 16th place with 24 points.
