Huish Park was the scene of a hard fought 2-1 victory for Yeovil Town against Boston United in the English National League. The match, characterised by its back and forth nature and moments of drama, was ultimately decided by Yeovil’s Luke McCormick, who scored both of his side’s goals.
The opening period was a cagey affair, with neither team managing to break the deadlock. Referee Harry Wager issued yellow cards to Yeovil’s Morgan Williams and Josh Sims for fouls, while Boston’s Adam Crowther was also cautioned in the second half. Tactical changes were apparent, with Yeovil bringing on Michee Efete for Josh Sims at half time. Boston United also sought to alter the game’s dynamic in the second half, introducing Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila for Matty Carson shortly after the hour mark.
The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Luke McCormick found the net, giving Yeovil Town a 1-0 lead. The home side appeared energised by this advantage and pressed their claims. Their efforts were rewarded in the 78th minute as McCormick scored again, doubling Yeovil’s lead to 2-0, this time with an assist from Morgan Williams.
However, Boston United responded. In the 84th minute, Dylan Hill pulled a goal back for the Pilgrims, with Greg Sloggett providing the assist, setting the stage for a tense conclusion. The latter stages of the match saw a series of substitutions and further bookings, with Yeovil’s Jed Ward and Boston’s Harvey Greenslade also receiving cautions. Despite Boston United’s late surge and a determined effort to find an equaliser, Yeovil Town maintained their composure to secure a vital three points.
