Brackley Town 1-3 Boreham Wood

The English National League witnessed a goal-laden spectacle at St. James Park as Boreham Wood secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Brackley Town. The encounter, refereed by Callum Walchester, showcased attacking intent from both sides, with Boreham Wood ultimately proving too potent for their hosts.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 46th minute, just moments after the restart of play. Boreham Wood’s Matt Rush found the back of the net, with Zak Brunt credited with the assist. This opener set the tone for the second half, and Boreham Wood continued to press their advantage. Their lead was doubled in the 61st minute through Abdul Abdulmalik, who added to his side’s dominance.

The visitors cemented their victory in the 86th minute when Érico Henrique Esteves Sousa scored Boreham Wood’s third goal, again assisted by Zak Brunt. Brackley Town managed to pull a goal back in the 89th minute, with Matt Lowe finding the net. The assist for Lowe’s consolation goal came from substitute Ryan Haynes, who had entered the fray in the 87th minute.

The tactical landscape of the match saw Boreham Wood, managed by Luke Garrard, asserting control, particularly in the second half. Brackley Town, under the guidance of Gavin Cowan, made several substitutions in an attempt to alter the course of the game. Charles Clayden replaced Tom White at half-time, and later, Zak Brown and Callum Stewart were introduced. However, these changes could not stem the tide of Boreham Wood’s relentless attack.

This victory sees Boreham Wood solidify their position at the top of the English National League table. They went into this fixture having played 17 games, securing 10 wins and 5 draws, amassing 35 points, which placed them second. Following this win, they have now played 18 games and accumulated 38 points, climbing to the summit of the league. Brackley Town, conversely, remain in mid-table. They had played 17 games prior to this match, with 5 wins and 5 draws, leaving them with 20 points and in 16th place. Their pre-match standing was 13th with the same number of points from one fewer game. The result marks a continuation of Boreham Wood’s impressive form, extending their winning streak to two games and their scoring streak to an impressive thirteen matches.

Right then, let’s get stuck into this one. Boreham Wood did the business against Brackley Town, bagging a solid 3-1 away win. The bookies had them as favourites, offering a tidy 19/20 for the win, and fair play, TopB1ns Edge was bang on the money calling for a Boreham Wood victory. That’s a good start for the model, showing its genius early doors.

However, it wasn’t all plain sailing. TopB1ns Edge called ‘No’ for Both Teams to Score, but the actual outcome was ‘Yes’ with both sides finding the net. Bit of a teething issue there for the model, I reckon.

On the Over/Under front, TopB1ns Edge nailed Over 0.5 and Over 1.5, which were pretty much banker bets. But it went a bit wonky on the 2.5 and 3.5, predicting Under when the game went Over. Still, it did spot the Under 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 correctly, which is a decent shout considering the goal count. Overall, a winning day thanks to the away win, but the model’s still got a bit of polishing to do.
