York City 4-0 Gateshead

The LNER Community Stadium was the scene of a dominant display as York City secured a resounding 4-0 victory over Gateshead in the English National League. From the early stages, York City established their authority, leaving their visitors with little to cheer.

The breakthrough came in the 11th minute when Josh Stones found the net, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Mark Kitching was credited with the assist for the opening goal. The Minstermen continued to press, and their advantage was doubled just six minutes later. In the 17th minute, Joe Felix scored to make it 2-0, with Ben Brooks providing the assist.

York City’s attacking intent remained strong, and their third goal arrived in the 29th minute. Alex Hunt extended the lead to 3-0 with another assist from Mark Kitching, ensuring York City held a comfortable advantage at half time.

The second half saw tactical shifts from both teams. Gateshead introduced Joe Grayson for Max Melbourne in defence in the 62nd minute, and Kian Pennant replaced Dominic Telford in attack in the 63rd minute, signalling an attempt to find a way back into the match. York City, meanwhile, made several substitutions to maintain their control and freshness. In the 70th minute, Ryan Fallowfield came on for Mark Kitching, and Ashley Nathaniel-George replaced Josh Stones. Mo Fadera also entered the game for Ben Brooks.

The scoring was completed deep into added time. In the 92nd minute, Ollie Pearce added a fourth goal for York City, with Ollie Banks, a second-half substitute, providing the assist. The final score stood at York City 4, Gateshead 0.

This comprehensive win sees York City climb to 6th place in the English National League standings, with 30 points from 16 games. Their unbeaten run now extends to five matches, and they have scored in their last eight consecutive games. Gateshead remain in 17th position with 19 points from 17 games. They are now without a win in their last four matches and have struggled to find the back of the net recently.
