Solihull Moors extended their unbeaten run and climbed the league table with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Braintree Town at Damson Park. The home side dominated possession for large spells, their tactical approach proving too much for a resolute Braintree outfit.
The deadlock was broken in the 18th minute when Bradley Stevenson found the back of the net, giving Solihull Moors the lead. This goal settled the hosts, who continued to control the tempo of the game. Braintree Town struggled to find their rhythm and were forced into defensive manoeuvres for much of the first half. Referee Richard Eley issued several yellow cards throughout the match; Laurie Walker, Bradley Stevenson, and Tyler French were cautioned for Solihull Moors, whilst Jacob Pinnington, Marley Marshall-Miranda, and George Langston received bookings for Braintree Town.
The second half saw Braintree Town attempt to push for an equaliser, but their efforts were largely stifled by a well-organised Solihull defence. Tactical adjustments were evident, with Braintree Town making a double substitution in the 64th and 74th minutes, bringing on Tom Blackwell and James Vennings respectively, in an attempt to inject some fresh impetus into their attack. Solihull Moors also made a tactical substitution in the 53rd minute, replacing Szhem Whyte-Hall with Darius Lipsiuc, and later introduced Conor Wilkinson and Sam Bowen from the bench.
However, it was Solihull Moors who landed the decisive blow in the 71st minute. Bradley Stevenson scored his second goal of the match, doubling the lead and effectively sealing the victory for his side. This brace from Stevenson proved to be the difference between the two teams.
The win moves Solihull Moors up to 14th in the English National League standings with 17 points from 15 games played. Braintree Town, meanwhile, remain in 21st place with 12 points, reflecting a challenging start to their campaign. Solihull Moors have now gone two games without defeat, while Braintree Town continue to search for a much-needed win, having failed to secure victory in their last five outings.
