Morecambe 0-3 Southend United

Southend United secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Morecambe at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, a triumph built on a dominant first-half performance and clinical finishing. The Shrimpers asserted their authority from the outset, and despite Morecambe’s endeavours, they were unable to counter Southend’s well-drilled attack.

The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when Slavi Spasov found the back of the net for Southend United. The opening goal was assisted by a neat pass from Keenan Appiah-Forson, who played a crucial role in building the attacking momentum.

Just fifteen minutes later, Ben Goodliffe doubled Southend’s advantage. Harry Boyes provided the assist for Goodliffe’s goal, further extending the visitors’ lead before the interval.

Morecambe struggled to gain a foothold in the second half, and Southend United maintained their composure, controlling possession and looking to add to their tally. In the dying moments of the game, Josh Walker, who had been introduced as a substitute in the 64th minute, sealed the victory with Southend’s third goal. Walker was assisted by Harry Boyes once again, who enjoyed a productive evening with his creative contributions from midfield.

The victory sees Southend United continue their strong start to the season, moving them up to seventh place in the English National League standings with 25 points from 14 games. Their impressive goal difference of +12 reflects their attacking prowess and solid defence. Morecambe, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the table, occupying 24th place with just 8 points from 13 matches, highlighting their ongoing struggles this campaign.

Right then, let’s get stuck into this Morecambe versus Southend United clash. The final whistle blew with Morecambe getting absolutely walloped, 0-3. Southend United were the clear winners, and thankfully, TopB1ns Edge was bang on the money with the ‘Away win’ prediction for the 1X2. They were priced up at a tasty 11/20, so that’s a solid start.

Now, for the Both Teams To Score (BTTS) market, this is where things got a bit interesting. TopB1ns Edge fancied ‘Yes’, but the bookies, and indeed the final score, said ‘No’. Southend kept a clean sheet, so that one missed the mark. Early days for the model, eh? Just teething issues, I reckon.

On the Over/Under front, TopB1ns Edge was calling ‘Over’ for the first three lines: 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 goals. All those landed, with Southend bagging three goals, so that’s a bit of a confidence booster. However, it called ‘Over’ on 3.5 goals, which was a bit optimistic as only three were scored, so that was a loss. The model also predicted ‘Under’ for 4.5 and 5.5, which was spot on. So, a mixed bag on the goals front, but the main 1X2 call was a winner. Cheers, TopB1ns Edge!
