Southend United 3-0 Aldershot Town

Southend United delivered a commanding performance at Roots Hall, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aldershot Town. Goals from Andy Dallas, Slavi Spasov, and Nathan Ralph underscored Southend’s control throughout the match.

The opening minutes saw both sides testing the waters, but it was Southend who struck first in the 16th minute. Andy Dallas finished off a well-constructed move to give the home side the lead. Southend proceeded to maintain possession and dictate the pace of the game, leaving Aldershot struggling to gain a foothold. The Shots found themselves largely confined to their own half. Southend’s Nathan Ralph received a yellow card for a foul in the 41st minute, the only caution of the first half.

Aldershot began the second half with renewed intent, but Southend remained resolute in defence. In the 67th minute, Aldershot made a double substitution, introducing Theo Widdrington and James Clarridge, in an attempt to shift the momentum. However, the Southend defence held firm, repelling their advances. Southend then made a tactical substitution in the 70th minute, with Slavi Spasov replacing Josh Walker. Moments later, in the 72nd minute, Southend’s Gus Scott-Morriss received a yellow card for a foul.

The game shifted further in Southend’s favour in the 74th minute when substitute Slavi Spasov, assisted by Harry Boyes, extended their lead. Aldershot responded immediately with a triple substitution in the 75th minute, bringing on Cameron Hargreaves, James Henry, and Hady Ghandour in a bid to salvage something from the match.

Southend continued to pose a threat, and their dominance was rewarded again in the 88th minute when Nathan Ralph scored, assisted by fellow substitute Jack Bridge, who had been introduced in the 80th minute. Southend’s substitutions proved effective, injecting fresh energy and creativity into the team. Aldershot were unable to mount a significant response, and the match concluded with a convincing 3-0 victory for the Shrimpers.

Southend made a final substitution in the 89th minute, bringing on Cavanagh Miley for James Morton to see out the game.

This win moves Southend United up to 8th in the English National League table, with 22 points from 13 games, extending their undefeated run. Aldershot Town, meanwhile, remain in 19th place with 13 points from 14 games, their winless streak continuing.
