Brackley Town suffered a disappointing 0-2 defeat at St. James Park against a dominant Wealdstone side, in a match officiated by referee Ross Martin. Wealdstone’s efficient attack proved decisive in securing the victory.
The first half saw Brackley Town manager Gavin Cowan make an early tactical substitution, replacing Zak Brown with Bailey Hobson in the 18th minute in an attempt to adjust the midfield. However, it was Wealdstone who broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. Enzio Boldewijn, assisted by Micah Obiero, put the visitors ahead. Brackley struggled to find a response, and their frustration led to Morgan Roberts receiving a yellow card in the 35th minute for a foul.
At half-time, Wealdstone’s Sam Cox made a tactical switch, bringing on Sakariya Hassan for Connor McAvoy to reinforce the defence. The second half started poorly for the home side, with Wealdstone extending their lead almost immediately. In the 46th minute, Micah Obiero, this time as the scorer, capitalised on an assist from Dylan Kadji to make it 0-2. Brackley’s difficulties continued as Zak Lilley and Connor Hall were both shown yellow cards in the 51st and 59th minutes, respectively, highlighting their struggles to contain Wealdstone’s attacking threat.
In the 59th minute, Brackley attempted to inject fresh impetus into their attack with a double substitution, introducing Scott Pollock and Danny Waldron for Connor Hall and Miracle Okafor. Wealdstone responded with a substitution of their own in the 67th minute, bringing on Olufela Olomola for Nathan Tshikuna.
As the match wore on, Brackley made a further substitution in the 82nd minute, with Justin Donawa replacing Gareth Dean. Wealdstone then made a double substitution in the 85th minute, introducing Moussa Diarra for Deonysus Woodman and Dominic Hutchinson for Junior Tiensia. Late in the game, Enzio Boldewijn received a yellow card in the 88th minute.
The result sees Brackley Town slip to 15th position in the league table with 16 points from 12 games, having won four, drawn four, and lost four, whilst also entering a losing streak. Wealdstone, on the other hand, climb to 12th place, amassing 18 points from 13 games, with five wins, three draws, and five losses, also ending their winless streak of five games.
