Altrincham suffered a 1-2 defeat against Tamworth at the J. Davidson Stadium, relinquishing a second-half lead in a match decided by late goals. Harrison Blair officiated the contest.
The first half concluded without a goal, as both sides struggled to find a breakthrough. In the 31st minute, Tamworth’s Alfie Bates received a yellow card for a foul, adding a combative edge to the proceedings.
The match came to life after the interval. In the 59th minute, Altrincham’s Lewis Banks, assisted by Elliot Osborne, put his team ahead, much to the delight of the home supporters. However, Banks then received a yellow card in the 66th minute.
Tamworth manager Andy Peaks responded to going behind with a triple substitution in the 72nd minute, introducing Manny Duku, Thomas McGlinchey, and Jordan Ponticelli to revitalise his team’s attack. These changes would prove significant.
Tamworth equalised in the 80th minute through Kennedy Digie, with Ben Milnes providing the assist. Three minutes later, in the 83rd minute, Milnes was replaced by Joe Riley. Tamworth then completed their comeback in the 86th minute with a goal from Alfie Bates. Altrincham responded immediately with a double substitution in the 86th minute, bringing on Lucas Weaver and Keaton Ward for James Gale and Elliot Osborne, respectively, in a bid to rescue a draw.
In added time, Tamworth’s Manny Duku received a yellow card.
The result sees Tamworth climb to 7th in the National League table with 21 points, while Altrincham are further down in 20th place with 12 points, having now lost their fourth match in a row.
