Forest Green took the lead in the 5th minute when Kairo Mitchell scored, assisted by Tre Pemberton. However, York City responded swiftly.
In the 14th minute, Ollie Pearce converted a penalty, levelling the score for York City.

Forest Green manager Robbie Savage made a double substitution at half-time, bringing on Neil Kengni and Jili Buyabu. Further changes saw James Balagizi replace Isaac Moore in the 65th minute, and Harvey Bunker come on for Harry Whitwell in the 81st minute, as the home side sought to gain an advantage.

Ben Brooks came on for Tyrese Sinclair in the 76th minute, and late in the match, Ryan Fallowfield and Daniel Batty were introduced for Joe Felix and Hiram Boateng. Mark Kitching of York City received a yellow card in the 60th minute for a foul.
Despite the numerous substitutions and tactical adjustments, neither team could secure a winning goal, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The draw sees Forest Green, who remain undefeated in their last 16 games, move to the top of the league standings with 28 points from 12 games. York City sit in 6th position with 19 points from 10 games.
