Scunthorpe United 4-0 Truro City

Scunthorpe United secured a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Truro City at the Attis Arena, reinforcing their positive start to the National League season. The Iron demonstrated both attacking prowess and defensive stability throughout the match, leaving Truro struggling to gain a foothold.

The first half saw Scunthorpe establish their dominance, culminating in Joey Dawson’s goal in the 23rd minute, assisted by Tyler Denton. The early stages of the match also saw yellow cards issued to both sides, with Kian Scales cautioned for Scunthorpe, and Harry Kite and Shaun Donnellan entering the referee’s book for Truro. Despite these cautions, Scunthorpe maintained control and went into the interval with a 1-0 lead.

Truro City made a tactical substitution at half-time, introducing Yassine En-Neyah in place of Harry Kite, while Scunthorpe replaced Oliver Ewing with Tyrell Sellars-Fleming. However, these changes did little to alter the flow of the game, as Scunthorpe continued to press forward.

The second half commenced with Scunthorpe firmly in command. Declan Howe extended their lead in the 53rd minute, capitalising on an assist from Joey Dawson. Truro responded with a substitution of their own in the 51st minute, bringing on Zac Bell for Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain. Despite Truro’s attempts to shift the momentum, Scunthorpe’s defence remained resolute.

In the 66th minute, Truro introduced Dominic Johnson-Fisher for Shaun Donnellan, aiming to inject more attacking impetus. However, Scunthorpe continued to find the net; Alfie Beestin added a third goal in the 70th minute. Scunthorpe then made a double substitution, introducing Daniel Whitehall for Joey Dawson and Billy Chadwick for Declan Howe in the 68th and 69th minutes respectively.

Daniel Whitehall, immediately making an impact off the bench, further compounded Truro’s problems, scoring in the 84th minute to make the score 4-0. Further substitutions followed, with both teams managing the game’s final stages. Truro brought on Jake Taylor and Luke Jephcott, while Scunthorpe introduced Carlton Ubaezuonu. Late in the game, Scunthorpe replaced Whitehall with Mark Beck. Dan Rooney of Truro City received a late yellow card in the 86th minute.

The final whistle confirmed a resounding victory for Scunthorpe. This win sees Scunthorpe United climb to 6th in the league standings with 18 points, while Truro City remain near the bottom of the table, languishing in 24th place with just 4 points.

Right, let’s have a butchers at that Scunthorpe game. A proper 4-0 thrashing of Truro City, just like a good non-league side should deliver.

The 1X2 was bang on, with TopB1ns Edge calling the Scunthorpe win at a measly 13/20. Still, a win’s a win, innit? The BTTS? Nailed it. TopB1ns Edge said ‘No,’ and Truro didn’t even get a sniff. Thank you very much!

Now, the Over/Under. This is where we had a bit of a mare, teething issues for the model. TopB1ns Edge bottled it on the O/U 2.5 and 3.5, predicting unders when the goals were flying in. However, it redeemed itself on the O/U 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 – spotting that the goal glut would dry up. So, a mixed bag there.

What stood out? TopB1ns Edge knew Truro wouldn’t score — a shrewd call, beating the bookies’ odds of 4/5 for ‘Yes’. Still plenty of room for improvement, but promising signs, eh? Time for a pint.
