Yeovil Town 1-0 Woking

The Huish Park faithful were sent into jubilation as Yeovil Town secured a 1-0 victory against Woking, thanks to a last-minute goal from Luke McCormick. In a closely contested match where neither side managed to assert dominance, the Glovers ultimately found the breakthrough in the dying moments, leaving the travelling Woking support disappointed.

The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams probing for weaknesses. Just before the interval, referee Adrian Quelch issued a yellow card to Woking’s Jack Turner for a foul, foreshadowing a more intense second half.

As the second half began, the tactical battle intensified. In the 59th minute, Woking manager Neal Ardley sought to invigorate his midfield, replacing Turner with Jake Forster-Caskey. Yeovil manager Daniel Webb responded in the 65th minute, introducing Aaron Jarvis for Harvey Greenslade, aiming to sharpen his attack.

A series of yellow cards followed, with Junior Morias and Josh Sims of Yeovil, and later Morgan Williams and Aaron Jarvis, all receiving cautions. Ardley made a double substitution in the 71st minute, bringing on Tim Akinola and Josh Osude, but the changes failed to unlock the Yeovil defence. Yeovil responded by replacing Ben Wodskou with Tahvon Campbell in the 81st minute and Josh Sims with Byron Pendleton in the 88th minute.

With the clock ticking past 90 minutes, the tension was palpable. Just when it seemed the match was heading for a goalless draw, Luke McCormick struck in the 92nd minute, assisted by Jake Wannell, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters. The drama continued as the referee added a further seven minutes of stoppage time. Tempers frayed, resulting in yellow cards for Woking’s Aiden O’Brien and Timi Odusina in the final seconds. Woking made a final substitution in the 99th minute, bringing on Chinwike Okoli for Josh Osude, but it proved to be too late.

This victory sees Yeovil Town climb to 14th in the National League standings with 10 points from 9 games. Woking, meanwhile, sit in 18th place with 8 points. Yeovil will be looking to build on this win as they aim to climb further up the table, while Woking will need to regroup quickly to avoid being drawn into a relegation battle.
