Rochdale continued their impressive start to the National League season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Braintree Town at the Crown Oil Arena. A first-half brace from Emmanuel Dieseruvwe proved decisive, showcasing Rochdale’s attacking capabilities.
The match commenced with a cautious approach from both sides, but Rochdale gradually began to assert their dominance. In the 26th minute, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe opened the scoring, assisted by Tarryn Allarakhia. Just six minutes later, Dieseruvwe doubled Rochdale’s lead, this time with Tobi Adebayo-Rowling providing the assist.
Braintree Town were compelled to make an early substitution in the 35th minute, with Jacob Pinnington replacing Tommy Smith in a tactical manoeuvre intended to halt Rochdale’s attacking momentum. Despite the alteration, they struggled to establish themselves in the match, entering half-time trailing by two goals.
At the start of the second half, Braintree implemented a double substitution, introducing James Vennings and Chay Cooper in place of Fletcher Hubbard and Sahid Kamara, respectively. These changes were aimed at revitalising their attack and midfield.
Rochdale made their first substitution in the 65th minute, Connor McBride replacing Aidan Barlow. As the game progressed, Rochdale manager Jimmy McNulty opted to safeguard his lead with further changes. In the 80th minute, a double substitution saw Daniel Moss replace Tarryn Allarakhia, who had provided an assist, and Casey Pettit take the place of Devante Rodney.
Late in the game, Rochdale continued to manage the match effectively. In the 87th minute, Ryan East was replaced by Liam Humbles, and goalscorer Emmanuel Dieseruvwe was substituted for Levi Amantchi. Braintree also made a late change, bringing on Manny Omrore for George Langston in the 92nd minute.
This victory solidifies Rochdale’s position near the top of the National League table. Their strong form, with six wins in seven games, has propelled them into second place, accumulating 18 points. Conversely, Braintree Town find themselves further down the standings, currently in 20th position with 7 points.
