FC Halifax Town 3-2 Yeovil Town

FC Halifax Town secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Yeovil Town at the Shay Stadium in a National League encounter characterised by a frenetic second half. The match exploded into life after the interval, with all five goals arriving in a breathless 33-minute period.

The first half ended goalless, but FC Halifax Town wasted no time in breaking the deadlock after the restart. Owen Bray, assisted by David Kawa, put the home side ahead in the 46th minute.

Yeovil responded swiftly. Junior Morias converted a penalty in the 52nd minute, after a foul inside the penalty area, levelling the score. Six minutes later, in the 58th minute, Harvey Greenslade, assisted by Josh Sims, put the visitors ahead.

FC Halifax Town demonstrated resilience, however. Owen Bray, again assisted by David Kawa, scored his second goal of the match in the 65th minute, restoring parity. The decisive moment came in the 79th minute when substitute William Harris, who had replaced Jamie Cooke in the 60th minute, found the net, assisted by Josh Hmami, giving FC Halifax Town a 3-2 lead.

The second half’s intensity was reflected in the number of yellow cards issued. Cody Johnson and Jamie Cooke of FC Halifax Town were cautioned early in the second half, followed by Harvey Greenslade and Tahvon Campbell of Yeovil Town. Late in the match, Angelo Capello and Jay Turner-Cooke, both of FC Halifax Town, also received yellow cards.

FC Halifax Town manager Adam Lakeland made a tactical double substitution in the 60th minute, bringing on William Harris and Angelo Capello for Jamie Cooke and Sam McLintock respectively. This proved pivotal, with Harris scoring the winning goal. Yeovil Town manager Richard Dryden responded with substitutions, introducing Tahvon Campbell and Aaron Jarvis, but they were unable to change the game’s outcome.

This victory lifts FC Halifax Town to 13th in the National League table with 7 points from 6 games. Yeovil Town, with 4 points, remain in 20th position.

Right, Halifax Town nick it 3-2 against Yeovil. Proper ding-dong, that. The bookies had Halifax at 69/50, and TopB1ns Edge called it right — home win it was.

Where we went wrong was BTTS. The Edge said “No,” but the onion bag was rustling at both ends. Gutted, that was a decent 11/10 shout.

Overs, though, we smashed it. All green lights from 0.5 right up to 3.5. TopB1ns Edge was on the money all the way, reading the game like a proper oracle. However, it did miss the mark by predicting under 3.5 and under 4.5, but nailed under 5.5 and 6.5.

Halifax Town to win and overs were the way to go. Get in!
