Aldershot Town 4-0 Morecambe

Aldershot Town claimed a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Morecambe at The EBB Stadium, in a match that ignited after a subdued first half. The opening 45 minutes were characterised by cautious play and a spate of yellow cards. Aldershot’s Tristan Abrahams, Ryan Hill, and Josh Barrett were all cautioned, along with Morecambe’s Ben Tollitt.

The game burst into life in the second half when James Clarridge opened the scoring for Aldershot in the 52nd minute, assisted by Will Nightingale. Just seven minutes later, Archy Taylor doubled Aldershot’s advantage. Morecambe struggled to respond, finding the Aldershot defence unyielding.

Aldershot continued to press their advantage, and in the 79th minute, Josh Barrett added a third goal, assisted by Dejan Tetek. Three minutes later, Tetek himself got on the scoresheet, assisted by Ryan Hill, to complete the scoring.

Morecambe’s afternoon was made more difficult by a tactical substitution in the 57th minute, with Luke Hendrie replacing Paul Lewis, who had previously been shown a yellow card. Further substitutions followed, but they failed to halt Aldershot’s momentum. Aldershot also made changes, bringing on Hady Ghandour for Abrahams in the 58th minute and Kiban Rai for Kwame Thomas in the 72nd minute, before a series of late substitutions to manage the closing stages of the match.

Prior to this match, both Aldershot and Morecambe had three points, sitting in 15th and 16th place respectively. This result sees Aldershot Town climb the National League table, marking a significant improvement in their form. Morecambe, however, will need to recover quickly from this heavy defeat.
