Wealdstone’s Grosvenor Vale was the setting for a closely fought match against Carlisle United, which ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for the visitors. The game, overseen by referee Stephen Parkinson, saw Carlisle overcome a Wealdstone side that had been enjoying a period of strong form.
The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams probing for weaknesses. Carlisle United broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Luke Armstrong scored, assisted by Archie Davies. This goal galvanised the Cumbrians, who began to control the pace of the match. Wealdstone struggled to find their usual attacking fluency, as their moves were effectively nullified by Carlisle’s organised defence.
Wealdstone started the second half with renewed energy, seeking to level the score. Manager Sam Cox made a double substitution in the 68th minute, bringing on Micah Obiero and Omar Mussa. This was followed by a further double substitution in the 75th minute, with Nathan Tshikuna and Sakariya Hassan entering the fray, as Wealdstone looked to inject fresh impetus into their attack. However, Carlisle remained resolute, their defensive line holding firm under increasing pressure.
Carlisle responded with substitutions of their own. Callum Whelan replaced Stephen Wearne in the 65th minute, and David Ajiboye came on for Regan Linney in the 77th minute, moves aimed at strengthening their midfield and preserving their lead. The match became increasingly fragmented towards the end, with Harvey Macadam, Junior Luamba, and Bevis Mugabi of Carlisle all receiving yellow cards as they worked to contain Wealdstone’s late attacks.
Wealdstone continued to press, and Phillip Chinedu replaced Junior Tiensia in the 80th minute, but they were unable to find the equaliser. Carlisle further bolstered their defence in the 87th minute, with Morgan Feeney replacing Junior Luamba, and Georgie Kelly replaced Luke Armstrong in the 88th minute to help see out the remaining minutes of the match.
The final whistle confirmed a hard-earned victory for Carlisle United. The result sees Carlisle United climb to 7th in the league standings with 8 points, while Wealdstone, despite the defeat, remain in a respectable 6th position with 9 points.
