At the Jakemans Community Stadium, Boston United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Gateshead in a National League match marked by early goals and tactical adjustments. The win earned Boston a crucial three points.
Boston began the match with intent, and their early pressure resulted in Keaton Ward opening the scoring in the 10th minute. Gateshead responded quickly, with Luke Hannant, assisted by Jovan Malcolm, levelling the score in the 16th minute, showcasing their determination.
An early tactical change saw Boston’s Jacob Hazel replaced by James Gale in the 32nd minute. The substitution proved effective, as Gale, assisted by Dylan Hill, found the net just three minutes later, restoring Boston’s lead.
The second half was a more cautious affair, with both sides vying for dominance. Gateshead looked to alter the game’s trajectory with a double substitution in the 70th and 71st minutes, introducing Tyrelle Newton and Ben Worman. Boston responded in the 85th minute, replacing goalscorer Keaton Ward with Olly Green.
