Boston United 2-0 Wealdstone

Boston United claimed a crucial 2-0 victory over Wealdstone at The Jakemans Community Stadium, a result driven by a dominant opening spell. The win significantly improves Boston’s position in the National League, while Wealdstone return home disappointed.

The Pilgrims started strongly, with Frankie Maguire opening the scoring in the second minute, assisted by Jacob Hazel. Maguire then doubled Boston’s lead in the 17th minute, much to the delight of the home supporters. Wealdstone struggled to cope with Boston’s early pressure, prompting manager Neil Gibson to make an early substitution, replacing Micah Obiero with Mustapha Carayol in the 43rd minute.

Early in the second half, Boston United were forced to make a change of their own, with goalscorer Frankie Maguire being replaced by James Gale in the 50th minute.

The second half became a more fractious affair, with referee Callum Walchester issuing yellow cards to Wealdstone players Enzio Boldewijn, Mustapha Carayol, Adrian Mariappa, and Kallum Cesay. Wealdstone then made a double substitution in the 70th minute, introducing Josh Grant and Harrison Sohna, followed by Connor McAvoy replacing Dominic Hutchinson in the 78th minute. Boston responded with substitutions of their own, bringing on Keaton Ward for Dylan Hill in the 74th minute and Olly Green for Jacob Hazel in added time.

Despite Wealdstone’s attempts to reduce the deficit, Boston remained solid in defence, preventing the visitors from creating any significant chances. The match concluded with Boston United securing a 2-0 victory.

This victory moves Boston United further from the relegation zone, with 52 points from 43 games. Wealdstone remain close behind on 49 points. Both teams will be aiming to improve their form as the season nears its conclusion.
