A dramatic late equaliser from Ryan Inniss rescued a point for Forest Green Rovers against Dagenham & Redbridge at The Bolt New Lawn, ensuring their impressive unbeaten run in the National League stretched to 14 matches. The late drama denied the Daggers, who thought they had snatched a valuable away victory in the 90th minute.
The opening half was a tight contest, with few clear-cut chances for either side. Dagenham & Redbridge were forced into an early substitution in the 11th minute, replacing Sam Ling with Oscar Rutherford. A yellow card for Forest Green’s Dylan Stephenson just before half-time hinted at a potentially more open second period.
That prediction proved correct as the second half saw a flurry of bookings for the visitors. Shiloh Remy and Harry Phipps were both cautioned in quick succession for Dagenham & Redbridge. Both teams also made a number of substitutions, attempting to gain an advantage. Forest Green Rovers refreshed their midfield and attack, while Dagenham & Redbridge altered their forward line before later strengthening their defence.
Just as the match seemed destined for a goalless draw, Dagenham & Redbridge finally broke the deadlock in the 90th minute. Substitute Oscar Rutherford provided the assist for Josh Rees to seemingly secure all three points for the away side.
However, deep into stoppage time, Forest Green Rovers found a dramatic equaliser. Kyle McAllister’s assist allowed Ryan Inniss to level the scores, sparking jubilant celebrations amongst the home fans.
The draw leaves Forest Green Rovers second in the National League table on 51 points, while Dagenham & Redbridge move up to 15th on 32 points, having not faced Forest Green in league competition for three seasons.
