Wealdstone 3-3 Altrincham

A thrilling six-goal encounter at Grosvenor Vale saw Wealdstone and Altrincham battle to a 3-3 draw in a pulsating National League clash. The match swung back and forth from the outset, with both sides demonstrating attacking intent from the first whistle.

The hosts struck first in the 20th minute, Kallum Cesay finding the back of the net to give Wealdstone the early advantage. Altrincham’s response, however, was swift. Just 14 minutes later, Tom Crawford levelled the scores, restoring parity for the visitors. Altrincham then took the lead in the 42nd minute, a well-crafted move culminating in Regan Linney applying the finish, assisted by Tylor Golden. Just as Altrincham looked set to enter the break with a one-goal advantage, Wealdstone struck back on the stroke of half-time. Sam Ashford provided the assist for Alex Reid to make it 2-2, ensuring a level playing field at the interval.

The second half continued in a similar vein. Altrincham regained their lead in the 54th minute when Regan Linney completed his brace, converting from the penalty spot. Wealdstone, though, refused to be cowed and found an equaliser in the 74th minute. Alex Reid, mirroring Linney’s achievement, netted his second goal of the match, assisted by Anthony Georgiou, to bring the score to 3-3.

Both teams pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough. The match ultimately ended in a stalemate, a fair reflection of a fiercely contested encounter. Tactical substitutions throughout the second half, including a triple change from Altrincham, aimed to shift the momentum, but neither side could break the deadlock. A flurry of yellow cards in the latter stages, including bookings for Crawford and Olson, underscored the intensity and commitment displayed by both teams.

The draw leaves Wealdstone in 20th position and Altrincham in 8th in the National League table. The two sides have a history, having met four times in recent seasons, with Wealdstone winning twice, Altrincham once, and one match ending in a draw.
