Boston United produced a commanding performance to secure a 3-1 victory over Braintree Town at the Jakemans Community Stadium, climbing to 23rd in the National League with 14 points. The Pilgrims’ dominance was evident from the outset, taking the lead inside the first minute. Samuel Osborne delivered a pinpoint cross which found Cameron Green, who expertly finished to give Boston the perfect start. The early goal set the tone for a one-sided first half. Braintree, struggling to contain Boston’s attacking prowess and fluidity, resorted to fouls, earning two yellow cards before the break. Just before half-time, Boston extended their lead. Jacob Hazel found space in the box and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 2-0.
The second half continued in much the same vein. Boston maintained their attacking intent, and their pressure paid off in the 57th minute. A well-constructed move culminated in Hazel turning provider, setting up Frankie Maguire to make it 3-0. Braintree Town, searching for a route back into the match, made a half-time tactical substitution, introducing Jermaine Francis. Later, John Akinde and Matt Robinson also joined the fray for the visitors. Francis’s introduction had the desired effect, as he pulled a goal back for Braintree in the 71st minute, assisted by Ryan Clampin. Despite a late surge and a yellow card for Akinde, Braintree couldn’t find another breakthrough. Boston also made changes, introducing fresh legs to see out the game, with Tom Leak replacing Osborne. Ultimately, Boston’s early dominance and clinical finishing proved decisive, condemning Braintree to a defeat that sees them drop to 20th place with 19 points. This fixture marked the first league meeting between the two sides in three seasons.
