A thrilling six-goal encounter at the ARMCO Arena saw Solihull Moors and Altrincham battle to a 3-3 draw, with a remarkable second-half comeback from the visitors denying the Moors all three points.
Solihull Moors took a deserved lead in the 27th minute. A flowing move culminated in Alex Whitmore finding the back of the net. Their dominance continued, and on the stroke of half-time, Sam Bowen doubled the advantage, sending the home support into raptures. The Moors entered the break seemingly in complete control.
However, the second half witnessed a dramatic shift in momentum. Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson introduced Matthew Kosylo and Joe Nuttall in the 61st minute, and the double substitution proved to be a game-changer. In the 72nd minute, Regan Linney reduced the deficit, latching onto a pass from Kosylo to give Altrincham a lifeline.
Solihull Moors responded swiftly. Just seven minutes later, Jack Stevens restored the two-goal cushion, expertly finishing a move orchestrated by Bradley Stevenson. At 3-1, the home side appeared to have regained control. However, Altrincham refused to be subdued. Only three minutes later, Linney notched his second, converting a precise pass from Tom Crawford to set up a tense finale.
The drama peaked in the 90th minute. With time almost expired, Kosylo, who had been at the heart of Altrincham’s revival, levelled the scores, assisted by Nuttall. The late equaliser stunned the home crowd and completed a stunning Altrincham comeback.
The draw leaves Solihull Moors 9th and Altrincham 10th in the National League table. The two sides have a history of closely-fought contests, having met four times in the past three seasons, with Altrincham boasting three victories in those previous encounters.
