Yeovil Town secured a vital 3-1 victory over Maidenhead United in a pulsating National League encounter at Huish Park, ending the visitors’ unbeaten five-match run and boosting the Glovers’ own league position after just one win in their previous five.
The home side drew first blood in the 10th minute. Frank Nouble, using his strength to hold off defenders, displayed excellent vision to pick out Aaron Jarvis, who finished clinically to give Yeovil the early advantage. Maidenhead United responded swiftly, levelling the score in the 26th minute. A well-constructed move culminated in Sam Barratt delivering a pinpoint cross for Kevin Lokko to head home. The match became increasingly tense, reflected in a pair of yellow cards before the half-hour mark – first for Jarvis following a rash challenge, and then for Maidenhead’s Will De Havilland for a subsequent foul.
Yeovil Town began the second half brightly and their renewed pressure yielded a second goal for Jarvis in the 52nd minute. Capitalising on a defensive lapse, the striker bagged his brace and restored the Glovers’ lead. This goal galvanised the home side, who continued to push forward. Their dominance paid dividends in the 63rd minute when Charlie Cooper extended the lead to 3-1.
The two-goal cushion prompted a flurry of substitutions from both sides. Maidenhead United, searching for a way back into the match, introduced fresh legs in attack and midfield. Meanwhile, Yeovil sought to consolidate their advantage with defensive reinforcements, including the eventual withdrawal of two-goal hero Jarvis for Harvey Greenslade. Despite Maidenhead’s late efforts, Yeovil held firm to secure all three points, moving up to 7th in the National League table with 25 points, while Maidenhead remain in 19th place on 16 points. The result reverses the recent head-to-head form between the two sides, which had slightly favoured Maidenhead.
