Boston United 1-2 AFC Fylde

AFC Fylde staged a thrilling second-half comeback to snatch a 2-1 victory against Boston United at The Jakemans Community Stadium. A cagey opening period saw cautions for both sides, with Fylde’s Tyler Roberts and Boston’s Tom Leak entering the referee’s notebook early on.

The deadlock was broken shortly after the restart, in the 47th minute. A clever pass from Green found Aderoju, who calmly slotted the ball home to give Boston a deserved 1-0 lead.

The goal galvanised the match, and Fylde responded with increased urgency. Their pressure told just six minutes later, in the 53rd minute, when Riley delivered a pinpoint cross for Whelan to meet and level the scores at 1-1. The momentum had visibly shifted in Fylde’s favour.

The visitors continued to press forward, and their persistence paid dividends in the 58th minute. A flowing move culminated in Massey finding Long, who applied a cool finish to complete the turnaround and put Fylde 2-1 ahead.

Stung by the two quick-fire goals, Boston United made a series of substitutions in an attempt to regain a foothold in the match. Their manager, Ian Culverhouse, received a yellow card for dissent as his side’s frustration grew. Despite their efforts, Boston were unable to find an equaliser, and Fylde held on for a valuable three points.

The victory sees Fylde climb to 20th in the National League table with 15 points, while Boston remain in 23rd place with 9 points. This fixture marked the first league meeting between the two sides in three seasons.
