Tamworth 2-1 Gateshead

Tamworth earned a crucial 2-1 victory over Gateshead at The Lamb Ground in a thrilling National League North encounter, a result that significantly boosts their league standing against a higher-placed opponent.

The home side drew first blood in the 24th minute. Dan Creaney’s astute pass found Nathan Tshikuna, who made no mistake in converting the opportunity to give Tamworth the lead. Buoyed by the opening goal, Tamworth began to exert more control over possession and crafted several promising attacks, though Gateshead’s defence remained resolute, preventing further breakthroughs.

Gateshead emerged for the second half with renewed purpose, introducing a series of substitutes to revitalise their attack. Despite these changes, it was Tamworth who extended their advantage in the 73rd minute. This time, Creaney turned goalscorer, finishing off a slick passage of play with an assist from Kyle Finn.
