A pulsating six-goal encounter at the ARMCO Arena saw Southend United overcome Solihull Moors 4-2, halting the Moors’ two-match winning run and providing welcome relief for the Shrimpers after two consecutive defeats. The visitors raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening half-hour with a display of clinical attacking football. The opener arrived in the 19th minute when Adam Crowther’s delivery found Keenan Appiah-Forson, who made no mistake in finishing. Southend’s dominance continued, and their lead was doubled just eight minutes later. This time, it was Harry Taylor who provided the assist for Aribim Pepple to find the back of the net. Just before the break, however, Solihull Moors were handed a lifeline. Conor Wilkinson set up Sam Bowen, whose goal breathed life back into the home crowd and reduced the deficit going into half-time.
The second half proved just as dramatic. In the 56th minute, Southend restored their two-goal advantage. Aribim Pepple turned provider, setting up Gus Scott-Morriss to make it 3-1. The game took another twist in the 67th minute when Solihull Moors were awarded a penalty. Substitute Jack Stevens stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot-kick, narrowing the gap once more and setting up a tense finale. Just two minutes later, however, Southend landed what proved to be the decisive blow. Macauley Bonne’s assist allowed Aribim Pepple to bag his second goal of the afternoon and secure a hard-fought victory for the visitors.
Despite a late flurry of yellow cards for both sides, Southend held firm to secure all three points, extending their unbeaten run against Solihull Moors to four matches. The victory moved the Shrimpers up to 13th in the National League table, while Solihull Moors slipped to 11th.
